Bedside Lighting Tips

Having a good light source is super important for your nightstand; beyond the practical reasons for a well-lit bedside, lamps can be a major point of decorative interest in the bedroom. To get a look in your bedroom that looks like it’s straight from the magazine pages, consider a few of these styling tips:

  • Play with contrast. I love the dark blue hue of the small dresser below, and a bright white coral table lamp will stand out against the contrast of the color.

  • Mix styles. A classic metallic desk lamp is an unexpected pairing with a modern turned leg nightstand; different design styles add visual interest.

  • Add in texture. The pearl mosaic texture of the globe-like table lamp adds interest and variety when paired with a very traditional console table as nightstand.

  • Don’t worry about everything ‘matching’ — overly coordinating accessories with furniture can make your room look sterile and uninteresting. The intricate hand-carved patterns of the last nightstand don’t necessarily perfectly coordinate with the glass base table lamp, but both pieces have a similarly feminine and romantic feel to them.
